We get so busy these days that we forget to take care of our health. We barely pay attention to what we eat, how much exercise we get and even go wrong in the way we breathe. Here are some ways, we can easily use Ayurvedic tricks to stay healthy.
- Eat more greens:
Fruits and vegetables need to be a big part of our diets. We need to have at least 3 fruits in a day along with 700 grams of vegetables included in our meals. So, carry a few bananas in your office tiffin or choose the salad option at lunch instead of the fatty oily snacks. Greens not only give us nutrients and vitamins but also add fibre to our diet that helps with digestion. If you want to dive deeper into the Ayurveda life, you can find out exact food plans for Pitta, Kapha and Vata and make a plan that’s suitable for your type of body.
- Take a break from the tea-break
We Indians love our chai and working professionals drink more and more tea or coffee than anyone else. But that much amount of caffeine is not good for our body because it creates a lot of toxins. The best way to replace your unhealthy habits with a healthy one is to replace a cup of tea with a glass of water. Every time you have a tea or coffee craving, have 1 or 2 glasses of water. Slowly, not only will you get over your caffeine addiction but also you will rehydrate your system. Water helps to flush out the harmful toxins- so yes you might go to the bathroom more times a day, but its all in the name of health. But if you don’t like the taste of plain water, Ayurveda has many options for you. There are many organic teas that you can get which are Ayurveda approved.
- Inhale- Exhale, it’s that simple.
Of all the things we get wrong in our crazy busy lives, even Breathing is one of them. Ayurvedic Pranayam has advocated easy breathing exercises that we can even do at our office desk and reduce the stress in our body. One of these tricks is to relax the shoulders, take a few deep breaths and bring attention to all your body parts. Do it for 15 mins and see its miraculous effects. Another trick is to count 4 as you inhale, count 4 while holding your breath and could 8 while exhaling. This simple trick is so subtle you can do it while in a group discussion and no one will notice. The last trick is to breathe from alternate nostrils. You can block your right nostril, breathe in from the left one for 6 counts, then hold the breath for 6 counts (pinch both nostrils), and release the air in 8 counts from the right nostril. This will quickly relax you and boost your thinking.
